A close view of the leathery leaves, lavender blue blossoms and prominent stamens and anthers of a "Bob's Blue" rhododendron flowering in spring

The "Bob's Blue" hybrid rhododendron was developed in Maple Ridge, British Columbia by the late Dr. Bob Rhodes, who registered the variety in 1979. It has been popular in the region and in 2011 it was recognized by the American Rhododendron Society as one of the 25 Best Rhododendrons of the Year.
