A4 class steam locomotive Union of South Africa on a test run from Carnforth, seen here on the Bentham line at Giggleswick summit near Settle, North Yorkshire. The loco is shortly to be withdrawn from operations as its boiler certificate is expiring, so this will be one of its last runs on the main line. The loco is an A4 class, the same streamlined class as 'Mallard' which holds the world speed record for a steam locomotive. Ingleborough summit is on the horizon.
