The annual 8K Shamrock Shuffle event kicks off the running season in Chicago which draws over 20,000 participants each year which concludes the St. Patrick's Day festivities in the city. The race typically is run the Sunday following St. Patrick's Day in Chicago which is known for its extensive and colorful celebration of the holiday. The 2019 version of the race marked the event's 40th anniversary. It is the largest 8K event in the world.
