A German executioner's sword, circa 1600, with replaced hilt Broad, double-edged blade with rounded, blunt point. The base on the obverse side with floral decorative etching and depiction of Justitia with sword and scales. The short groove with epigram "Lang ist die Pein an Rad und Strick drum weisz mir ruhig dein Genick" under the later engraved city coat of arms of Schwäbisch Gmünd. The reverse side with threefold struck king's head blacksmith mark of Johannes Wundes (Solingen, 1560 - 1610) as well as an etched depiction of gallows and wheel.
