Scilly has a log record in the flower industry for supplying early blooms thanks to its mild climate. It was in i879 that an islander sent a box of wild narcissi to Convent Garden market. The buyers were so impressed with the early blooms that a flower industry began immediately . Today it is the islands' 2nd largest industry (after tourism)
