Fort Gilkicker entrance in extremely poor condition. Old fort is located at the at the eastern end of the Stokes Bay near Gosport Hampshire England


Fort Gilkicker was constructed to defend the deepwater anchorage at Stokes Bay. coast defence guns in the late nineteenth century and finally it was re-armed during WWI to protect Portsmouth from air attack. During WWII it began to fall into disuse and was released by the military in 1956. Fort Gilkicker is a Grade II* Listed Building and a Scheduled Ancient MonumentSince the world wars it has been used as a plumbers' workshop, signalling station and storage units. council-owned between 1986 and 1999 but has remained largely untouched since then. Sold at auction in July 2022
