This Snouted Hoverfly (Genus Rhingia) was visiting the individual flowers of the common English Bluebell flower (Hyacinthoides non-scripta) on the edge of woodland. The larvae of this species breed in cow dung and emerge from April to October This plant is just one individual amongst a whole host of Bluebells growing beneath oak woodland on Torrington Commons near the River Torridge in North Devon.
