American Blues singer Ethel Waters (1896-1977) poses with an NBC Radio microphone in 1933. Ms. Waters also sang jazz, pop, and swing. She was a very successful actress and was nominated for an Academy Award and a Primetime Emmy Award. The 1933 caption found with this photo says, "From laundress to the sensational singer of the day for her blues. She is the person who introduced 'Stormy Weather' and made it what it is today. She uses it as her theme song on her broadcasts over the NBC-WJZ network." To see my other related images, Search: Prestor vintage music African
