The Burning of Latimer and Ridley at Oxford, 16th October 1555. From John Foxe's 'Book of Martyrs' or 'Actes and Monuments', 1570. Hugh Latimer (c1487-1555) was the pre Reformation Bishop of Worcester and later Church of England chaplain to King Edward VI. Nicholas Ridley (c1500-1555), was the Bishop of London. They were burnt at the stake and were two of the three Oxford Martyrs.
