Dinosaur footprints at the Marocche of Dro,Trento province, northern footprins were left about 190 million years ago.

Along the path through the “Marocche” at Dro, impressed on some of the rocks shattered and shunted by the glacier, the discovery was made of footprints belonging to dinosaurs of various types, a herbivore of 6-7 metres and a carnivore, at least. A walk along the geological wonder of this biotope, under the care of the Tridentino Natural Science Museum, takes visitors to admire these footprints and give a name to them. In the April of 2007, a landslide revealed even more prints on the higher slopes of Monte Angione: in this case, the steps continue (for up to 50 metres) of dinosaurs with three or more toes, big and small, more or less from the same period as those discovered in 2000, and studies of which have brought us new information on the evolution of the giant reptiles that inhabited the Italian peninsula. If you prefer not to follow the whole “Marocche” path, you can reach the first footprints tank to a short walk from the carpark close to Lake Cavedine.
