This study relates to the standing saint in Parmigianino's most famous painting, The Madonna with the Long Neck, begun in 1534. Since the pose of the figure varies slightly from the final painted version, this drawing is not a copy after the finished work. Further research could determine whether the drawing comes from the master's own hand, made in preparation for the painted masterpiece.
