Two historic wooden stern-wheeler steamboats that plied the Yukon River during gold rush days spent their final years on shore in Whitehorse, capital city of Yukon in Canada. Photographed in 1967, the Casca and Whitehorse vessels ended several decades of service in the 1950s and were destroyed by a fire of unknown cause in 1974. Fortunately, a similar paddlewheel-powered boat of the era -- the Klondike -- was restored in the 1960s and continues to be a major tourist attraction in Whitehorse. Historical photo.
