1914 - A moment in the early USA movie industry, This old Amercan photo shows the original Universal Studios, 'Universal City" , USA,only two years after it began. It was then used as a film lot for filming westerns. It is still in existence as Universal Pictures and is the oldest surviving film studio in the United States. It was founded in 1912 by Carl Laemmle, Mark Dintenfass, Charles O. Baumann, Adam Kessel, Pat Powers, William Swanson, David Horsley, Robert H. Cochrane, and Jules Brulatour.
