Statue of King Khafre. Discovered in a pit under his valley temple at Giza, this statue of King Khafre is one of the most iconic sculptures of ancient Egypt. Khafre was the builder of the second pyramid at Giza. The statue is made of diorite quarried in Tushki, near Abu Simbel. The use of this stone shows that the power of Khafre stretched all the way to the south of the country. 4th Dynasty, about 2520 - 2494 BC. Egyptian Museum, Cairo, Egypt.
