Crosses and poppies in the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey, London, England, UK. In memory of Coldstream Guards plot.

Formed in 1650, this is the oldest continuously serving regiment of the regular British Army. Coldstream Guards are infantry soldiers who specialise in light role operations: performing reconnaissance, operating machine guns and mortars, and engaging enemy troops on foot and in light vehicles. This versatility makes the regiment one of the most important fighting units in the British Army. Coldstream Guards also have a ceremonial role as protectors of the royal palaces, including Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace. The Regimental Band of the Coldstream Guards is one of the oldest and best-known military marching bands in the world. The Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey has been organised by The Poppy Factory since 1928. For eight days, from the morning of the Thursday before Remembrance Sunday until the evening of following Thursday, the lawn of St Margaret's Church, Westminster, between Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament, is marked out with 250 plots for regimental and armed services associations.
