The proposed site of the contentious Caltongate project, Edinburgh
This site sits on the former New Street bus depot (which has now been demolished). The structure still showing on the site is the foundations of Edinburgh's first gasworks. At the right of the picture is the City Council's new headquarters. Stretching along the back of the picture are buildings along the historic Royal Mile and Canongate. In the foreground is Regent Road. The plan is to redevelop the area to provide housing, retail space and a hotel.
