A portrait of police killer Leo Rogers--- On May 16, 1923, Leo Rogers, a 21 year old career criminal escaped from the Nipissing District Court, North Bay. A posse included plainclothes policeman Fred Lefebvre, Goaler Joe Bourke, Constable Robb and Sgt. McGovern pursued him. When located a night-time gun battle commenced & Sgt. William McGovern was injured . At dawn the battle continued and Fred LeFebvre was fatally John Urquhart was also killed. Eventually Rogers was shot dead.
