This hydro power dam is situated between Meall nan Tarmachan to the left and Meall Corranaich to the right (not visible) with Beinn Ghlas and Ben Lawers further behind to the right (east). The river flowing out from the dam runs down to Loch Tay to the south. A narrow road connects Bridge of Balgie in Glen Lyon with the main A827 road running along the north side of Loch Tay.
