The church is Norman and is memorable for its semicircular apse decorated by blank arcading. This motif is exceptional in England but occurs here and there in France. One of the buttresses bears the 16th century tun and thorn motif of Prior Thornton 0f Wetheral. The rest has been rebuilt more than once. The present nave is due to , 1869. The porch by , 1908.
