Xiphosuran. Illustration of the dorsal (left) and ventral (right) views of a Xiphosuran. Xiphosura is an order of marine animals which includes horseshoe crabs. The order includes many extinct lineages, and four surviving species in the family Limulidae. The group has hardly changed in millions of years and horseshoe crabs today look almost identical to their prehistoric ancestors.
