The Stela of Shamshi-Adad V behind a sacrificial altar from Nimrud, ancient Assyria, modern day Iraq. Shamshi-Adad V was King of Assyria from 824 - 811 BC, the year of his death. The nearly 2 meter high sandstone stela is now in the British Museum, London. After a 19th century work by Sir Austen Henry Layard.
