Halt of the Hunt circa. 1737 Carle (Charles André) Vanloo - French - This oil sketch is a study for a picture painted in 1737 for Louis XV's dining room at the Château de Fontainebleau. The finished canvas (Musée du Louvre, Paris) no longer retains the shaped top and bottom that would have originally fit into the dining room’s wood paneling.
