wrecked boats & debris washed up on Playa Arenal after storm, Oct 2007, Javea, Alicante Province, Comunidad Valenciana, Spain
On 12th October 2007 the Rio Gorgos burst its banks after days of exceptionally heavy rain. This scene is on the Playa Arenal the day after the floods, and it shows the beach with wrecked boats, branches and rubbish, washed out to sea in the river floodwater, blown back onto the beach. The beach umbrellas are still up because in October it is still warm enough to use the beach. People came to the beach to see the devastation and in some cases, where possible, to identify their boat.
