The Soviet supersonic transport aircraft, the Tupolev-144, on display at a museum in Germany
A Soviet supersonic jet the Tu 144 at the Auto and Technik Museum in Sinsheim, Germany. The Soviet plane was dubbed Concordski for its resemblance to the Anglo-French supersonic Concorde but its development was quite separate. There are, hoeweverm documented cases of Soviet industrial espionage which helped with some of The Tupolev's systems, like braking, A Tupolev crashed at an air show in Paris in 1973. It went into service with Aeroflot in 1975 but after a crash service was suspended in 1978. Some freight-only service followed but the plane flew commercially only 102 times .This copy. No 77112. was among the last to be built and is the most advanced of the production models called the D Type. The German museum acquired this aircraft in 2000 .
