Lecanopteris is a genus of epiphytic plants native to tropical Southeast Asia and New Guinea, but are also cultivated as houseplants. Also known as antferns, they have strange looking, bulbous rhizomes along their stems that are home to symbiotic ants. The ants provide nutrients to the plant, while the plant gives shelter to the ants to live and procreate. Antferns grow on the bark of trees under warm conditions.
