A bust of the orator and Athenian statesman Demosthenes (382 - 322 BC) - a fine marble copy from the 19th century, patterned after an ancient model Typical oval head form with tall, creased forehead, thick curls, dense, slightly constricted eyebrows, closely-cropped beard of slightly wavy locks and prominent cheek bones. The facial expression is a psychologising interpretation from the late 3rd century BC by the sculptor Polyeuktos.
