Lettuce pollution research. Close-up of analysis of lettuce leaves in research examining the effects of pollution on lettuce, an indicator species used to track the effect of pollution. It can help determine the presence of pollutants in soils, including heavy metal and organic pollutants. The research is intended to evaluate the toxicity of the soil by analysing samples of lettuce leaves. This research is being carried out at the LEB (Lipides Environnement et Biotechnologies) Aquitaine Transfert, a CNRS research centre at the Bordeaux Segalen University in Bordeaux, France.
