Marlborough at the Battle of Oudenarde, 1708. After Judocus de Vos (1661-1734). The Battle of Oudenarde was a major engagement of the War of the Spanish Succession. A Grand Alliance force under the command of the John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough (1650-1722) and Prince Eugene of Savoy (1663-1736), fought a French force under the command of the Duc de Bourgogne and the Duc de Vendôme, the battle resulting in a victory for the Grand Alliance.
