Kauri is a coniferous tree of Araucariaceae in the genus Agathis native to the northern region of New Zealand's north island. Omahuta Forest is one of the most impressive remaining Kauri forest in Northland. Omahuta Sanctury Walk there offers a great opportunity to admire a magnificant part of this subtropical ecosystem. Die Kauri-Bäume aus der Araukariengruppe wachsen ausschließlich im Norden der Nordinsel Neuseelands. Einer der letzten dieser Wälder ist der Omahuta Forest in der Provinz Northland. Der Omahuta-Sanctury-Weg führt in einen besonders schönen Teil dieses Ökosystems mit einer Reihe alter Kauri-Bäume.
