A bas-relief representation of the Resolution on the base of the statue in memory of Captain James Cook (1728-1779) at Whitby in North Yorkshire, England. Captain Cook is renowned for his three Voyages of Exploration, which took place in 1768-71, 1772-75 and finally between 1776-80. Cook was killed during the third of these voyages. The ships used during the voyages were made at Whitby. The Endeavor, Resolution, Adventure and Discovery were built at the town's dockyards.
