Dionysian Mysteries (Bacchian Mysteries) depicted in the Roman fresco in the triclinium (Roman dining room) in the Villa of the Mysteries (Villa dei Misteri) in the archaeological site of Pompeii (Pompei) near Naples, Campania, Italy. Initiation rite from the mysterious cult of Dionysus (Bacchus) is probably depicted in the murals. This fresco shows Silenus is playing the lyre; a young satyr playing the panpipes and a nymph suckling a goat, in an Arcadian scene. To their right, the initiate is in a panic.
