Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of a spider mite (Oligonychus coniferarum). This species can produce a web that resembles a spider's, but is looser and weaker. Affected conifers can be identified by a bronzing colour on the needles, caused by the feeding of Oligonychus coniferarum.
