The King's Knot, a 16th-century formal garden below the west wall of Stirling Castle

Low sun shows clearly the earthworks of the King's Knot, the formal garden below the west wall of Stirling Castle. The garden was built over a medieval jousting site, while the golf course in the distance takes in part of what was the Royal Park, where the Stewart Kings hunted within site of their castle. The right-hand section is the Queen's Knot.
