Pile of manure in a field. Manure is a term for decomposing organic matter that is used as a fertiliser. It is often a mixture of animal dung and plant matter such as straw. When spread over the field, it will decompose further and return nutrients to the soil to aid the growth of new plants. Photographed in northern France.
