He was baptized,when eleven years old, by Henry Rey-. nolds at Wanship, Summit county,Utah, and ordained an Elder June 27,1879, by Apostle Geo. Teasdale. Onthe same day he married Nancy ElizaRichards, a daughter of Apostle Frank-lin D. Richards. He was ordained aSeventy May 12, 1884, by James Wool-stenhulme, and was set apart to presideover the Oakley branch Sunday school by Bishop Stephen Walker of 1, 1885. Feb. 22, 1891, he was ap-pointed president of the Y. M. M. I. was ordained a High Priest August5, 1894, under the hands of ApostleBrigham Young and set apart asBishop of the Oakley Ward, which po-sition he is filling to-day.
