Double flowerheads of robust Heath Spotted Orchids
Britain has a plethora of native flora but as habitats are changed, damaged and ruined so the knock-on effect is the demise of the native flora and fauna. This image of 2 heath spotted orchids brings out the beauty of this plant which is acid loving and usually prefers heathlands. Closely related to the common spotted orchid but not tolerant to shade. Normally 10-25cm in height but can grow larger but plants registering 75cm will usually be hybrids.
