Winds and bitter cold with wind chill factors exceeding minus 20 degrees created vapor both above the ice in Lake Michgan and exhausting from buildings within the Chicago skyline acting to even obscure the giant Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower) at left. The extreme tempertures and conditions greeted the New Year on New Year's Day 2018 creating a deserted solitude to the scene. Significant buildings in the scene in addition to the Willis Tower include, from left, the Franklin Center (formerly AT&T Corporate Center), Roosevelt University Vertical Campus Building, 333 South Wabash Avenue Building (formerly the CNA Center), Chase Bank Building, Legacy at Millennium Park, Smurfit-Stone Building, Trump Tower, One Prudential Plaza, Two Prudential Plaza and the Aon Center. and,, at left foreground beneath the Willis Tower is the Shedd Aquarium.
