Light micrograph of the posterior lobe of a rat pituitary gland stained with Gabe's aldehyde-fuchsin method. With this method the neurosecretory material is stained, which can be seen occupying the entire posterior lobe. The intensely stained globules are Herring bodies. Red blood cells in blood vessels appear yellow stained.
