Spotted Lanternfly


Spotted lanternfly in Reading, Pennsylvania, in August 2018. The spotted lanternfly (Lycorma delicatula) is native to China and was first detected in Pennsylvania in 2014. It has since spread to several nearby states. It has the potential to become a major agricultural pest, feeding on the sap of a wide range of fruit, ornamental, and woody trees. Adult spotted lanternflies are approximately 1 inch long, with colorful hindwings.
