The Gundestrup cauldron. Decorated silver vessel, thought to date between 200 BC and 300 AD, placing it within the late La Tène period or early Roman Iron Age. Gundestrup in the Aars parish of Himmerland, Denmark. Warrior's initiation. Bottom: row of warriors bearing shields supporting a tree on their spears accompanied by three figures playing boar-headed carnyxes. Above: the tree ride four wariors, each with a boar-crested helmet. On the left-hand is a giant figure who is immersing a figure in a cauldron. National Museum of Denmark.
