Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of pollen grains within a stitchwort flower (Stellaria graminea) anther. The anther is the pollen-bearing body of the stamen, which is the male part of flowering plants. S. graminea is a species of flowering plant in the Caryophyllaceae family (carnations), known commonly as lesser stitchwort, grass-leaved stitchwort, or grass-like starwort. It is a common plant of waysides, hedgerows and open woodlands. Magnification: x1100 when printed at 10cm wide.
