Red Cascade Spindle Tree (Euonymus europaeus 'Red Cascade') is a popular ornamental plant in gardens and parks. In latte summer it produces bright red ornamental fruits that peel apart to reveal orange seeds inside. Parts of the plant have been used medicinally. However, the fruit is poisonous, containing, amongst other substances, the alkaloids theobromine and caffeine, as well as an extremely bitter terpene. Charcoal produced from this plant is seen as superior among artists due to its strength and density.
