African Blue Tit (Cyanistes teneriffae), Tenerife, Canary Islands


The African Blue Tit (Cyanistes teneriffae) is an endemic bird to the Canary Islands. There are five subspecies present in the Canary Islands - this bird was photographed in Tenerife and belongs to the "teneriffae" subspecies (this subspecies also lives on La Gomera). The other 4 subspecies vary slightly in colouring and/or voice. It lives in various types of habitat, such as laurel forests, pine forests, scrub, and gardens.
