The common leopard gecko (Eublepharis macularius) The leopard gecko is a ground-dwelling lizard found in the deserts and arid grasslands of Iran, Afghanistan, western India and Pakistan. It can grow up to 25 centimetres in length. Unlike other lizards the leopard gecko have moveable eyelids and lacks the toe pads that allow other lizards to climb vertical surfaces. It feeds mainly on insects and fruit, but will also eat spiders, small lizards and birds and their eggs.
