Obs. A specimen in the collection shows the progress towards maturity, in the disappearance of the rufous mottling on the upper surfaces, whUe a uniform black shade is spreading over the bird both above and below; the thighs rufous; on the tail two ashy brown bands, the basal one, however, becoming obsolete.
