The anti-imperialist mass movements in Beijing, Tianjin, and other places that flourished during the May Thirtieth Movement threatened to collapse the rule of the imperialist warlords. The May Thirtieth Movement was a major labour and patriotic movement against imperialist powers led by the Chinese Communist Party. On March 18th, 1926, Li Dazhao (Secretary of the Northern District Committee of the Communist Party of China) led groups including the Beijing Federation of Trade Unions, the Federation of Students, and around 4,000 students from various schools
