Kabuki-za (main theater in Tokyo for the traditional kabuki drama). It is one of the city's finest examples of Meiji-era constructions (originally constructed as the Tokyo residence of Kumamoto -Hosokawa- clan). Opened in 1889, was destroyed in a fire in 1921, rebuilt in a baroque japanese revivalist style (evoking the japanese castles' architecture), destroyed again by a bombing in WWII and recoverd after the war to the 1924 structure.
