Colchester's only surviving Saxon building, it has an arrowhead (triangle arches) doorway in the tower base and features re-used Roman bricks. The church is open and is currently home to the CO1 cafe. The churchyard contains the burial place of William Gilberd, discoverer of electro-magnetiism and Physician to Queen Elizabeth I.
