The palm Manicaria saccifera (ubuçu) with simple leaves can be seen in the bottom left corner as well as left and right below the crown of the emergent tree. The palm Mauritia flexuosa (buriti) with costapalmate leaves appears below and to the left of the crown; and Euterpe oleracea (açai, assaí) with digitate compound leaves with hanging leaflets can be seen below the crown and left of the trunk of the emergent tree. All three palms grow on waterlogged soils.
