Typical scenery near Burwash in the High Weald of East Sussex. The area has many public footpaths making it excellent walking and hiking country, especially in the drier months. In the winter some tracks are almost impassable due to the predominance of Wealden Clay, which gives the sort of mud that sticks to everything! The area is noted for its rolling hills, woodland and sparse population, given it is situated in the south east of England. The area around Burwash featured in a number of stories by Rudyad Kipling who lived nearby at Bateman's just outside of Burwash.
